Polls have opened in Singapore as 2.76 million voters cast their ballots in the general elections. The ruling People's Action Party has already secured 5 out of 7 contested seats without opposition candidates. A total of 211 candidates are competing for 97 parliamentary seats.

Singapore, VA. On the morning of Saturday, polling places for voting opened for voters across all of Singapore to participate in the general elections. Among 7 places in the Parliament, the People's Action Party, which is in power, won 5 places in a multi-member constituency, where no opposition candidate was presented.

In these elections, 211 candidates will contest, including two independent candidates, for 97 electoral seats in Parliament.
