Kensuke Honda, the former AC Milan and Japan star, is set to resume his football career at the age of 39 after signing with Singaporean club Hougang United. The attacking midfielder, who has played in Lithuania, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Italy, Mexico, Australia, Brazil, and Azerbaijan, announced the move. In a statement, Honda revealed his personal goals, which include trying to score in more top-tier domestic leagues than any other player. However, his primary objective with this club is to win the league title. "There are many strong competitors, so the challenge will be difficult, but I am determined to achieve it," he added. Honda last played for Bhutan's Baru FC, where he scored two goals in two matches during the 2024-2025 season. He retired from international football after the 2018 World Cup, having played 98 matches and scored 38 goals for Japan.
